Question by almachandcanismajor: Please explain these baseball abbreviations “Minimum of 1000 IP, 3000 PA and 100 decisions..” from the website
“Minimum of 1000 IP, 3000 PA and 100 decisions for career and active leaderboards for rate statistics.” http://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/BA_career.shtml
What is IP, PA, and 100 decisions?
i am guessing…
innings played for IP
plate attempts for PA
IP can not stand for Innings Pitched in this circumstance because the website is talking about the leaders for all time batting average….. Still I am confused as to the meaning of “100 decisions”…??

What do you think? Answer below!
1000, 3000, abbreviations, baseball, decisions.., explain, from, Minimum, Please, these, website
IP = Innings Pitched
PA = Plate Appearances
IP is the ammount of innings a pitcher has pitched = innings pitched.
PA are the ammount of times a player has had an at bat = plate apperance, or at bats (ab)
decision= the result of a game (win or loss) thrown by a pitcher.
IP means Innings Pitched. It is meant for a pitcher’s stats, when saying how many innings they pitched in.
PA means Plate Apperances. It is how many times a baseball player has stepped up to the plate to bat.
A decision is what the outcome of a game is. Whether it is a win, a loss, postponed, or delay.
it is confusing and not the commonly understood abbreviations.
IP = innings played (per game) and
PA = plate appearances and
decisions = “the number team games that season divided by twelve rounded to the nearest integer”
